It is extensively imprinted with grahics that commemorate the founder of LGB, Wolfgang Richter. Price: $159.99. LGB has also released a new Pink Train Passenger Starter Set (#L72306), which includes an old-time steam locomotive and two passenger cars painted and lettered as the “Pink Train.” The locomotive has a working headlight and the set includes 12 sections of outdoor/indoor curved track to make a 51"circle. More from LGB: A digital D&RGW F7 diesel-locomotive A unit in two road numbers (#L20578 and L20579) is now available. Paint and lettering are prototypical for Era III. The locomotive has traction tires and both trucks are driven by ball-bearing Bühler motors. The engine has an mfx/DCC decoder for digitally controlling a variety of light and sound functions. A socket is built into the rear of the A unit to supply power from the decoder to the speaker in the B unit. Price: $879.99 ea. The B unit (#L20588) has a built-in speaker that can be supplied with power from an A unit by means of an included cable. Price: $409.99. To accompany these locomotives, LGB is releasing a series of six Era III passenger cars, also painted in D&RGW colors. These have metal wheelsets, interior lighting, and interior details. Electronics & software

Model Rectifier Corporation (MRC), 80 Newfield Avenue, Edison NJ 08837, has updated their 125-watt AG9950 Throttlepack (now #9950B). The revised unit has the ability to control the sound functions on certain LGB locomotives that do not meet NMRA specifications (whereas the earlier model of the pack would not do this). For those without DCC, manipulating the buttons on the power pack according to the directions will still activate the horn/whistle and the bell on these engines (as well as NMRA-compatible locos). Price: $289.98. Website:

G-Scale Graphics, 5860 Crooked Stick Dr., Windsor CO 80550, has updated its TrackSide R/C control system for track power. You now have the option of controlling two different tracks from the same transmitter. An Interactive Display Transmitter is also available to provide push-the-button-to-start-the-train operation at public displays. This will accelerate the train to running speed, run it for a predetermined duration, then stop it, awaiting your next visitor. Output-drive circuitry has also been redesigned to provide increased current capability throughout the throttle range. In addition to internal over-temperature protection, an optional heavy-duty version with a cooling fan (pictured) is also available. Price info at
