Star Hobby is again offering USA Trains rolling stock in special graphics to commemorate the 2016 East Coast Large Scale Train Show in York, Pennsylvania. Two cars are being offered, both refrigerator cars.

The cars themselves are standard USA Trains products, supplied with grab irons and stirrup steps in a separate bag. These must be pressed into place by the purchaser, a relatively simple job. The cars travel on free-rolling plastic archbar trucks with plastic wheelsets. LGB-style hook-and-loop couplers are mounted to the trucks. USA Trains knuckle couplers are also supplied.

The cars are decorated for the Georgia Winery, with peach-colored sides and an orange roof; and for Pennsylvania Root Beer, with a brown body and roof. On the ends of each car are the words “ECLSTS, Spring 2016.” As an aside, the Georgia Winery is a real entity, started in 1983 in Ringgold, Georgia. I was unable to find any evidence of Pennsylvania Root Beer. As we have come to expect, the paint and graphics on both of the cars are excellent.

If you are a collector of commemorative rolling stock or would just like to add a little color to your line, check out these offerings.
